Flashback Fashion Friday: November 2020

Hey y'all! We did it! We made it through another 30 days of 2020! The end is on the horizon, surprisingly enough. We survived an election! We saw a new administration win and hopefully change is also on the horizon. I started watching Christmas movies and listening to Christmas music. Along with making my Christmas Card list for my annual Christmas Card-A-Palooza!! This year, I made actual Christmas cards with photos from the previous year, KJB is such an adult!! I also took the first part of my Stats Final for my PhD program, can you believe that I have almost finished my first year... let it be known, that Ross Gellar had every right to mention his PhD whenever he could... because after this Stats class, I'll be introducing myself as KJB, Ph.D. whenever possible once I finish my dissertation and cross that stage...

That being said, here's what I wore this month:

November 2:

Let me introduce you to my beloved Cru.Case! I knew I needed the color immediately and after waiting for them to stock my size, I'm happy to report that it is as great as the website would lead you to believe. At this point, #77Easy was still going strong and I found that I didn't always have pockets which meant I was just holding my phone in one hand and Thomas' leash in the other, and let's not even get into when he would poop! I'm obsessed with this purchase to say the least. I've been envious of the Bandolier case since I saw Tracee Ellis Ross using it on #blackish and Emma Roberts AND Jamie Lee Curtis using it on the set of Scream Queens, but those cases are just a bit outside my price range, so this case from Cru Case was perfection!

November 3:

Election Day! Though, I always vote by mail and they told us with COVID to get our ballots in early. I was increasingly nervous for the outcome. I felt like the Biden Harris ticket could win, but also there was a very good chance that Trump would still weasel his way through. So naturally, I did anything and everything to keep my mind off the pending results.

November 4:

With the global pandemic, people that could voted by mail, so even though Election Day was 11/3, the votes continued to come in and be voted... the projection was the end of the week, so I continued to do anything and everything to keep my mind off perhaps pending doom.

November 5:

So instead of worrying about the election outcome... I focused on pairing items in my closet that I hadn't before! Like this cropped turtleneck from Target with this dress from Forever 21 paired with my new snakeskin boots from Target!

November 6:

I washed and styled my hair via Tik Tok tutorials (have you tried blopping?!) and paired some all time favorite jeans from Lane Bryant with a fave top from Target with another new pair of my snakeskin obsession. These delightful shoes are from Target!

November 7:

By the time Saturday rolled around, a Biden Harris win seemed likely and I needed the comfort of my Obama Biden tee and my Obama socks paired of course with my Taylor Swift Cardigan!

November 9:

Being I used one phone case for basically all of October and half of September, with the exception of cow print week (Also see here, here and here) where I used my beloved Wildflower case! . You can tell that I needed to switch up my phone case a bit this month!

Shoutout to last year's Christmas pjs on Thomas! I wanted to see what our combo (these are Old Navy) would look like... I needed up buying some good ones from Lane Bryant (keep scrolling to see)!!

November 10:

After seeing a Tik Tok where someone made this after watching Schitts Creek, I had to have my little make me one! Check her out here: Haley Hunter Crafts.

November 11:

With the weather change, I was finally able to start wearing both parts of the lounge sets that I bought at the beginning of this COVID-19 madness back in March when all the bloggers I follow were buying their tie dye sets because they were in spring and I forgot to recognize that Davis was basically in summer already! This set from Target is wonderful in separates and even better together!

November 12:

This dress from Target was something I watched at Target for forever and when it was finally on sale in the clearance by happenstance I was able to buy the last one... of course it was no longer fall at that time and then another fall went before I found it in my closet again. But I was so very, very pleased to bring this bad boy out to share with the world, and boy oh boy was it worth the wait!

November 13:

This outfit was a weird juxtaposition of a bunch of pieces I thought would go together and it really went off like gangbusters! The headband (that my mother hates) is from a set that I found on Amazon! Then the plaid shirt, the cropped crewneck and the joggers are all from Target at different times.

November 16:

This outfit was something I had been meaning to wear all season long. When I thought I was going to Apple Hill, this was the first outfit I conjured up- but of course with it being October it was too hot for full pants and a sweater. But November finally allowed me to pair my apple tee from Femfetti with my H&M sweater and these fun paperbag jeans from Target! I thought it was fun to pair my snakeskin slides, ya know as a nod at Eve!

November 17:

These pants are another part of a Target set that I bought back in March and it just wasn't cold enough to pair the sweatshirt with it because this fabric is hella warm! But I was able to make this monochromatic look work and man oh man- the compliments I received!

November 18:

I saw this velour set online at Lane Bryant and I just knew that color and the fit needed to be mine!

I paired this set with my new Target snakeskin boots and a start was born!

November 20:

I bought this sweater dress last year at Target I believe, on clearance and so this is probably only the second time I wore it and this red plaid, reversible poncho from Lane Bryant was the perfect addition to give it a true fall kick!

November 23:

Again, I wanted to break out some clothes that don't get their flowers but definitely deserve them! Like this fit from Forever 21 is definitely special and peep these snakeskin mules from Target!

Introducing my new pjs from Lane Bryant! I love them and I've been wearing them non-stop! They even match Thomas' pjs so you know it was meant to be!

Don't Let Thomas Fool You, He's Thrilled

November 24:

Again, I had to get out these fabulous, comfy pants and again, I paired it with this H&M tank! Eventually it will be cold enough to wear both the top and the bottom of the set together! Please ignore my favorite Target sandals!

November 25:

Had to wear this fun set again!

November 26:

Happy Thanksgiving! I spent it solo with just myself and Thomas! We woke up and watched the very sad Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade... not having an audience was very sad and the Radio City Rockettes while dressed incredibly did not do their kickline... so was it even the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! Afterwards, we watched the National Dog Show, that was truly spectacular- because dogs are always better than humans!

Then I watched the Friends Thanksgiving marathon on TBS and afterwards watched Miracle on 34th Street on Disney+ (they have the original, not the one with Matilda!).

Later in the day, I called my mom, sister, sister's girlfriend and we did Chandler's game where you have 6 minutes to name all 50 States... mom won because she knows the '50 Nifty United States' song from childhood and I was able to name 46! Which I'm proud of because it got me second (Jade had 29 and Mikayla had 25) but I really did think I was gonna pull out all 50! Damn you, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota and Missouri! Damn you!

November 28:

Saturday morning, I woke up at 7:30am, put on my Sicker Than Your Average tee, paired it with my Taylor Swift cardigan and I took two different parts of my four part Stats final! Ugh! (I have two more tomorrow, pray for me!)

November 30:

The final day of November was a good one and the end of #77Easy! I was happy to see November come to an end and December begin, but I am worried about the increasing COVID cases and what it means for the end of 2020 and the start of 2021!

I hope you all had a great month! Stay safe!

Here's to having a wonderful December and finishing up 2020!!

KJB Lately: #77Easy

Howdy, y'all! Yesterday was the last day of November and also the last day of #77Easy! If you're wondering what that is... you're not alone. Thirty days into the challenge, I still had people in my DMs asking me what that meant. If you head over to my Instagram, and scroll to the right in my highlights, you'll come across the Tik Tok (77 Easy) that started it all.

If you can't be bothered, as I completely understand- the #77Easy came from this woman deciding to take 77 days and change up her lifestyle in a challenge format. I took it a step further and simply just made the 77 Easy, just that- 77 days of 30 minutes of ANY activity.

It started off strong. I would go on mile long walks, and do my 100 squats and Thomas was loving his daily walks, but he started to wonder why they were so long and honestly so was I. Day 10 is supposedly when things become a habit and Day 10 of any workout is extremely difficult for me.

No joke, I struggled but I managed to keep going even if my thirty minutes of activity became less and less strenuous and more about simply moving my body, which was always the point.

I kept track of it all via Google print off calendars!

The updates for the 77 Days, became so much that I had to create a second highlight seen below.

Each day of activity was more difficult for me, because I truly enjoy my day to day, which involves a nap and sometimes I can't manage to squeeze in a 30 minute walk. So I adapted any long range movement could and would count for my own purposes. So the walks would range from 12-20 minutes, sometimes it was me walking laps in the backyard while Thomas played. I got back in the habit of drinking 80 oz of water a day and other days I could only do 40.

What I learned throughout this and what I hope my friends that participated learned as well... is that our bodies are cool things and that we should treat them well and with respect and that does not mean simply just eating right and exercising, but also that we have to be able to give our bodies a break. You have to be aware of your intentions and what the outcomes realistically will be.

When we started in September, I knew that after months of inactivity due to COVID-19, that I wanted to get up and moving but that was honestly as far as I went with goals. So I am happy to say that #77Easy was a success and perhaps, just maybe- it'll come back in the new year!

Madam Vice President, If Ya Nasty

Y'all I know that you remember when I posted about Hillary's nomination in 2016. While I was devastated about that outcome, I was most definitely not surprised by the outcome. I've been nervous since Joe Biden & Kamala Harris got the nomination. That nervousness and anxiety has increased as the election loomed and today, this morning after having only one eye on the results, I'm over the moon to see that HUMAN DECENCY WON!

I was truly beside myself not knowing how the outcome would come and truly it's heartbreaking to see how close it has been while the votes have been counted. The memes were immaculate but my anxiety was HIGH!

To be able to look to the White House Administration and see that melanin is back! There are people that care about the American people back in the White House.

Today, I am a Proud American!

To say that I am excited to see love and respect back in the White House, I'm truly beside myself. President-Elect Joe Biden & Dr. Jill Biden are heading home!

I'm excited for the next 4 years, but there's still work to do!

Flashback Fashion Fridays: October 2020

Y'all another FFF for the books! We legit have TWO months left of 2020! CAN YOU EVEN?! And we still don’t know how the elections are gonna go...

Here's what I wore:

 October 1

Katie from What Kate Finds and Maddy Gutierrez both share putting tees over dresses as a way to change up the dress- so I thought... what about putting a tee underneath! I was very pleased!

October 2

Meet my Bauble Bar ghost earrings and my ghost nails (using Olive & June polishes) and of course, my Casetify case! Kara Nailed It on Instagram has a great tutorial to use!

October  5

October 6

October 7

Decided with Dry Bar being re-opened meant I needed to see how my hair was looking... I also had little to no motivation to wash my own hair! Oops. I told the stylist that I wanted a lot of curls and no volume and she delivered- seriously, it brought out my Sasha Fierce alter ego!

October 8

Real talk, I knew I wanted to wear this new dress from Target and just knew that I needed my hair to be done to make a statement. I was able to pair this dress with my snake print heeled mules, also from Target!

My mail-in ballot came, I voted and then I took it downtown to drop it off in a ballot box! Then I got to show off my new "I Voted" sticker!!

October 9

Hadn't worn this dress since February but I wanted to show it a good time! One of the girls pointed out that I had been dressing up and asked if anything was going on- it was utter boredom, y'all! I just wanted to get out of the usual humdrum of this COVID life.

October 10

October 12

Katie from What Kate Finds and Erin from Style Thief Fashion both shared the brilliance of The Lazy Genius' Monday Uniform... I decided that this ASOS black high-low hem dress is my Monday Uniform! It's one item of clothing and it just makes every Monday morning seamless!

Say hello to my Monday Uniform! This time, I paired it with my new Target snake print booties! I was truly feeling myself and the temperature in Davis was perfect- I felt like I was getting ready for the Fairfield County Fair (unfortunately cancelled this year due to COVID, though with it being in Lancaster- I definitely wasn't making it there!).

October 13

I decided to use E+M (black) and HD (white) from Olive and June polish to do a cow print mani, I put on my Wildflower cow print case and rocked my cow print dress from ASOS!

Y'all know me pretty well at this point... I've had my Casetify ghost case on since September when I got it... and it was getting a bit bored... so with Halloween coming - my phone essentially put on a costume! A cow costume!

October 14

Wednesday was all about cow brown stunning! ;) ala Monique Hart!

October 15

With my nails and phone case still cow print... I had to get out my last ASOS cow print dress! I'm wearing one of my favorite Amazon purchases, a green velvet headband! Had to get in the Aggie spirit when living in Davis - so that means cow print galore!

October 16

Finished off my cow print week with my cute little UC Davis tee (found at Rite Aid) and my cow print mani!

October 18

My second Saturday class (6am on a Saturday is a special torture) and Thomas had a play date and I got to wear some Femfetti tee!

October 19

Check out my new jack 'o lantern tee from Target! Had to put Thomas in her pumpkin costume for some photos!

October 20

I call this my Michelle Tanner look and featuring my new Target paperbag jeans!! Seriously so fun!

October 21

October 22

October 23

October 24

Thomas and I celebrated 3 years here in Davis (4 academically)!! It looks different this year with COVID-19 compared to previous years but it's been a great time and we're excited to see what happens in the coming year!!

October 26

Finally brought out my Lane Bryant girlfriend jeans and my new Femfetti tee!

October 27

Yabbos say, "Boo!"

October 28

October 29

Wearing my Witches Brew tee and paired it with my new Lane Bryant snake print booties!

October 30

Had to do a deconstructed Beetlejuice LEWK! Green eyes, purple lips and STRIPES!!

October 31

Happy Halloween!

October has come and gone! Goodbye Hocus Pocus, Halloweentowns & the rest of Disney+ Halloween movies!

Two months left, y'all! 2020 is almost over- not thinking 2021 is gonna too much better- but at least 2020 will be over!

Flashback Fashion Friday: January 2021

January 2021 was honestly a continuation of 2020... it was such a long ass month. At the end of the month, there was a power outage that las...
