Flashback Fashion Friday: April

I'm gonna try something new, where I share my #OOTDs once a month here on KJB Meets World! If you want to see them IRL, well as close to IRL being it's social media, follow me on Instagram: @kjbmeetsworld

With that being said, I’m in Ohio this week, so naturally I’ve been a little MIA ... so please enjoy my past OOTDs.

Let's get into April's collective #OOTDs.

April 1:
Hoppy Easter
I had originally planned another look for Easter, but after a week of adventures all over the state of California with Momma B {link here}. So I decided to go with a more casual look and a more recent purchase from the Target in Irvine! I also found Thomas' ears and clip on tie at Target as well.

April 3:

After Momma B left to return to Ohio, my friend Bekah came to visit from Ohio! We romped around Davis for a few days!

April 4:

My adventures with Bekah had us finding cool locales around Downtown Davis.

 April 7:
RIP to these cheap Francesca's sunnies

After Bekah returned to Ohio, my friend Leigh {originally an Ohio friend} came to visit from Chicago!

April 8:

Leigh and I went to San Francisco and had In-N-Out!

April 9:

Once Leigh left, it was time to celebrate Thomas' Gotcha Day! We made it around the sun together! Fun Fact: I'm wearing the same shirt I was wearing when I picked him up! Another Fun Fact: If you look closely you can see the coffee I split on myself right before I took this photo. Good ole KJB!

April 10:

This day was the beginning of my love affair with this jumpsuit {ASOS} and the resurgence of my obsession with these white tennies {Lane Bryant}! This was also the first day of my CASA training classes!

April 12:

I'd like to introduce y'all to my new favorite dress and my leather/pleather/faux suede jacket! Plus this heaven like tennies {Lane Bryant}.

April 18:

I love this shirt so much, I have it in three colors. Thank you Target!

April 19:

This dress from Old Navy, is my fave casual LBD! This tin overcoat, would most likely qualifies as a duster {Target} and my fave little booties {Lane Bryant} that probably won't survive much longer cause the heels have started to show signs of wear and I apparently walk a little off kilter.

April 20:

This dress {Target} would be better if it had pockets, cause everything is better with pockets!

April 21:

Hunter had a collaboration with Target *insert heart eyes emoji* and of course nearly everything sold out in the blink of an eye! However, I was able to order two rompers! Blue and Yellow!

April 22:

Hello yellow HunterXTarget romper! This romper gets the most compliments and surprisingly enough I had earrings {Francesca's} that much perfectly!

April 23:

Who doesn't love short suits! These shorts are from my Lane Bryant days, naturally I wasn't able to wear them to work (cause that makes sense) but I am now! Hi-zah!

April 24:

I found my favorite sandals {Lane Bryant} from a few summers ago, I had thought they were lost forever, but imagine my surprise when I found them in my closet, right here in Davis! This romper is a recent purchase Modcloth AND I LOVE IT! It has a bunch of sea creatures! The material is thin enough to not make the 3/4 sleeve miserable in the heat.

April 26:

This dress {Target} is a fave cause who doesn't love a wrap dress AND it has pockets!

April 26:

I bought this dress {Target} in Irvine and kept it for a specific, special occasion... THE MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM and THE COLOR FACTORY! Cause your girl loves a theme!

April 27:

This Road Trip romper from Modcloth is so stinking cute, I absolutely adore it, even if I can't stand road trips... But I would be willing to wear this in Tahoe, for the pictures alone!

April 28:

Here's another version of this top from Target! I love and adore it and I LOVE this Alpha Gam hat, that I found on Etsy!

April 29:

This romper is the perfect weekend ensemble cause you put it on and go! I added some sass by pairing it with my FAVE bralet from Forever 21!

April 30:

This is one of my favorite outfits, the dress {Chic Soul} and this denim jacket from my momma!

Get this! Thanks to Stassi Schroeder of Vanderpump Rules fame, June 30th is National OOTD Day!

May's #OOTDs, coming soon!

Gird your loins!

KJB Goes to Golden Convention

Gotta love a Facebook memory
Unless you live under a rock, or just don't pay any attention to me, you know that I recently went to my sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta's 50th Convention in San Antonio.

Advisors as a collegian and now friends!

What to say about Convention?

To state it simply, each Alpha Gamma Delta event- be that TLC, Recruitment visit, Alumnae event or Convention- gets better and better. For the simple fact that I get to see and meet more people and I get to learn more and care more deeply for our Fraternity year after year.

The say goes, "it's not Four Years, but For Life."

While going through recruitment you may hear that thrown around during the rounds from active members and you may wonder what that even means. While on the other side in your chapter as a collegian, you may hear it so often that you might be tempted to eye roll. It's not until you are on the other side of the collegian/alumnae spectrum that you're able to quite grasp to.

You join Greek Life for a multitude of reasons at the ripe old age of 18, believing you know the ways of the world. In my case, I was 19 when I joined Alpha Gamma Delta and was 22 when I firmly believed that simple act would be one of the greatest and most beneficial of my life. Then at 26, I finally attended my first Convention, our Golden (50th) Convention in San Antonio. I was able to meet up with women from my initiating chapter, Omega (The University of Akron) that have always been a part of my Alpha Gamma Delta experience, and our friendships and sisterhood continue to grow. I also met up with sisters from the chapters (Beta Delta, Indiana University. Beta Tau, Ball State University. Beta Xi, Purdue University. Epsilon, University of Kentucky. Gamma Omicron, Eastern Kentucky. Theta Upsilon, Georgetown College.) I support as a member of VST (Volunteer Service Team) along with the chapters I've visited for Recruitment (Zeta Delta, Towson University. Delta Iota, Chico State University.). Getting to be face to face with sisters that I've met through the wonderful (and sometimes terrible) wonderful of social media. Reconnecting with sisters I've met through Alumnae events such as Circle in the City or some other factor. [Even my best friend that now works for our FHC was able to experience his first convention as a staff member].

Stepping away from the mundane events of your life is always beneficial, but getting to step away and immerse yourself in your 114 year old sisterhood with 800 sisters is just damn good for the soul. It's a necessary recharge to the psyche.

So while I and countless others were experiencing our first convention, we were introduced to a sister attending her 32nd! (Convention is every two years). One of the first she attended being in 1954 when she was able to actually meet a handful of our actual Founders.

That's what we mean when we say, "it's not Four Years, but For Life!" While you're in it, your collegiate time seems like the most important and it is, it allows for our Fraternity to grow, but our time within the organization is more greatly spent as an alumna. How lucky are we, that our experience doesn't end with college graduation.

As our new installed International Vice President Education, Catherine Matthews wrote on the aforementioned Facebook memory (above), "And that, my friend, is what it's all about. Here's to more friends and more fabulous times. ❤️💛💚"

Here's to that!

Our next Convention is in 2020 in Phoenix and you can bet your ass I'll be there with bells on and hopefully my mother too!

KJB Lately: Healthcare Ongoing

So I've discussed the difficult journey that has been finding my own healthcare plan once I turned 26. Read it here and then an update here.

Since the last update in March, I have figured out how to get insurance. I made it right under the 30 day mark to get to use my turning 26 to enroll during non open enrollment times. Can you believe?! I almost missed my window to get insurance, and yet no one told me such a window existed.

I have healthcare and also dental care. Of course, they're not bundled together. Of course, the healthcare costs me close to $200 a month. So I'm sure this should surprise no one, that there are people without health insurance!

Even with the health insurance, I only just recently made a dentist appointment and I'm still working on getting into the doctor. In California, or at least with my plans- I have to be assigned to a certain doctor/practice.

Throughout this whole thing, I know that I need to get back on my meds, though I'm not sure it'll be antidepressants, because while I originally got on my medication to sleep- I'm currently not having issues sleeping, but I have become increasingly anxious as I get older. I am grateful that my quitting my meds cold turkey did not have an adverse effect on me after a week or so.

I'll be sure to report back on this growing saga.
