September was a crazy month for KJB! I came back from Chicago (I was there for a Bachelorette), I went to San Francisco (for a Recruitment visit), school started for the students of UC Davis, the Panhellenic community started Recruitment, I went to Ohio (for Sara's wedding!!) and while I tried to return on the 30th, my plane had an emergency landing in Kansas City so instead of returning to Davis that night, I returned October 1st! It was truly a wild month that went super fast and had me deplete my savings... Here's what I wore:
September 1:
The last day of Chicago we went to The Shore Club for some fun in the sun! We took a stroll on the beach and took photos with the skyline in the background. Chicago is truly a one of a kind city.
For our last night in Chicago, we went to Gyu-Kaku for dinner. It was seriously delicious! 10/10 would recommend! After dinner, we went on a boat ride. It was seriously the best! Wonderful end to a great weekend!
September 13:
I
was sent to visit Delta Pi at SFSU and while I went to school in a city (University of Akron), Akron has truly got nothing on San Francisco and I cannot imagine how wild going to school there would be!
Whenever I go to San Francisco, I always forget that it's a couple dozen degrees cooler than in Davis. Surprisingly when I got there, I found that it was one of the hottest days of the year! Naturally, none of the buildings have reliable air conditioning that can keep the rooms cool when there are hundreds of PNMs coming in and out.
September 14:
Being it's always so chilly in SF, I only packed pants and long sleeves. But I knew that I would not survive the heat in those pants and long sleeves. So I went to Target, the VPR had told me that they were wearing yellow on their second day and I found this golden dress that would fit in. Luckily, the heat broke, and with the new dress, it was a lot less sweaty!
September 15:
The last day of my visit was their Preference Round and so I had to go for the classic all black look! Going on Recruitment Visits always makes me happy to be an Alpha Gamma Delta! I love meeting new sisters and I love helping them welcome new members into our organization!
September 24:
This day was spent prepping for Sara's wedding! I went to DryBar and then I went to my favorite place in Davis, Natural Nails & Spa and got a mani & pedi!
September 25:
I spent ALL day traveling, but I was able to work on my Ph.D. application during my layover!
September 26:
The MOH, Kate, and I went to get our dresses after I had mine fitted. It took a couple of hours, I was able to get my Penn Station fix all before the rehearsal dinner later that day!
The Bride and her Bridesmaids! |
Y'all know you're not supposed to wear white to someone's rehearsal dinner or wedding correct? If you learn one thing here at KJB Meets World, let it be this: IF YOU ARE NOT THE BRIDE OF THE WEDDING, DO NOT WEAR WHITE! It's really that simple!
The wedding took place at Blue Heron Brewery & Event Center, and after the run-through of the ceremony, we went to the Brewery for dinner. It was a wonderful time talking about what led to us each knowing the bride & groom!
September 27:
Gettin' Ready |
I've seriously never had more fun at a wedding! Spending the morning with friends getting ready for the special event, riding a limo and scream/singing to classic songs, taking photos (y'all know I love taking photos), watching my BFF marry her man in a 20 minute ceremony (seriously, if you're not sealing the deal that quickly, you're doing it wrong!), the food and cake/desserts were the delicious, the drinks were flowing and I rarely left the dance floor! If you know me, I NEVER dance and I was doing my best to cut a rug! Honestly, I'm not sure I'll ever have more fun at a wedding.
September 28:
The next day, I woke up in the same hair and make up and went to my Little Babe's baby shower! I'm still thinking about the food from that day!
After the baby shower, I added a bit more to my eyes and then I went to ANOTHER wedding! Let me tell you that this was the best food I've ever had!
Shout Out to Anne for being my Date to Wedding #2! |
It was truly meant to be that these two weddings were in the same weekend only days apart!
September 29:
This was my last free day to do anything in Akron and I woke up HURTING! I'm not sure if it was just residual from the first wedding, so just because I finally slowed down and saw how far my 27 year old body has come from 19! So I managed to get Penn Station again (it's a travesty that the furthest west the restaurant goes is Kansas and the east side at that!).
Unfortunately, because of the Penn Station, I wasn't able to have my beloved Rockne's salad, but I did get to have the Mac & Cheese bites and that plus seeing this lady, made the whole dinner worth it!
September 30:
On Monday, I woke up and packed my bags and waited for my friend to come back from work so she could take me to the airport. She was also the lovely person that picked me up earlier in the week on Wednesday. On the way to the airport, we went back to Rockne's for a to-go order of Mac & Cheese bites to go! I will get that salad when I return in October!
I was at the Cleveland airport 2 hours early, I made it onto my flight, and then to Chicago with no problems. I was on my flight from Chicago to San Diego for maybe an hour before the flight attendants started to prep us for an emergency landing. Let me tell you, the strange sense of calm that took over. I was really only concerned with whether or not I was gonna make it home that night. Was our emergency landing going to be in a field or was it going to be over water, because honestly where were we? Luckily, we made it to Kansas City. The pilots had seen and smelled smoke in the cockpit, apparently a light went out and there had been an electrical fire. They had to get us off the plane, find us another plane, another flight crew and by the time we were up in the air, we barely made it into San Diego before curfew, so I had to wait to fly to Davis the next morning (October 1). It was while getting a Lyft to the hotel that Southwest had set up for the lot of us that were stranded in San Diego, did I realize when my payment was declined that I was -$500 some odd dollars in the hole because all my bills had been taken out of my account. Fortunately, I've been saving money for the upcoming convention this summer and was able to move my savings around. But let me tell you, my thinking I could be living like a Rockefeller has got to stop!
Any ways, I'll continue my search to marry a rich man! I love getting to visit with my friends in Ohio and I wish they were closer, but the only way I'll ever live there again is if a Cleveland Brown or Cleveland Cavalier falls in love with me and asks me to move there! So if y'all see a single athlete, feel free to send them my way!
xo,
KJB
