KJB's Twenty-Twenty Round Up

The day has come! 2020 has come to an end! While watching Death to 2020...

I realized all the madness that this year has had... like the Australian wildfires.... that almost took out all the koalas! Then there was the Trump impeachment trial... then 2020 truly took off with the coronavirus. Here we were thinking that 2019 was somehow bad... 2020 came along and said, "hold my beer!".

January

January saw Thomas turning 3! I began my first year of my PhD program through Indiana Wesleyan University. The loss of Kobe & his daughter, Gigi.

Taylor Swift also gave us Miss Americana on Netflix.

February

February saw my 28th birthday and my returning to Ohio for my high school best friend's wedding on Leap Day! While in Ohio, I was able to meet my little's baby for the first time! I also started to hear mention of coronavirus that seemed far fetched to be anything too menacing... boy was I wrong!

March

In March, I was supposed to go to Vegas to see my Little get engaged and then I was going to see my mom in LA over UC Davis' Spring Break- but that's when quarantine started. March, Friday the 13th, made an end to that. A fair amount of the women moved out of the house and life as we knew it changed.

My Little and her Fiance went to Florida instead and got engaged!

Nothing seemed too serious in March, it seemed like we were just gonna have to be at home for the initially proposed 2 weeks and then thought we would be back to normal... incorrect *David Rose voice*

The end of the month began with tons of video calling and my love of Olive & June took off!

April

April saw the series finales of Schitts Creek and Modern Family! As if this time wasn't sad enough!! We also celebrated Thomas' Gotcha Day!

The quarantine continued and shows started to shut down. I started my second set of classes.

May

My friend, Ellee got enaged this month! Mother's Day was this month so I made sure to send a ton of cards for all my friends that are mothers. Mom moved from LA to SunRiver, OR!

June

The indiscriminate spending continued... I bought so many random things this year- that was truly ridiculous!

The women decided to end their school year with a week long dress up event! My friend's wedding was canceled.

July

In July, we decided to get together after months apart and met up in SunRiver for the 4th of July. With Coronavirus, my first year of IWU Summer Residency was online! It was a week long experience with my cohort and the school. It made up for the cancelled Alpha Gamma Delta Convention!

August

August saw my mom returning from SunRiver to move back to LA. Also this kickass Thomas mask!

September

September saw the start of a new school year for UC Davis and then my final term for my first year! Also the start of the #77Easy!

October

Thomas and I celebrated 3 years in Davis!

November

November saw the beginning of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City!

Thomas & I spent Thanksgiving alone and just vibing.

December

While the decorations and the movies were full of Christmastime joy, the holiday was a bit melancholy. Thomas and I went to LA for Christmas and then mom came up to Davis for the new year!

Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021!

Flashback Fashion Friday: November 2020

Hey y'all! We did it! We made it through another 30 days of 2020! The end is on the horizon, surprisingly enough. We survived an election! We saw a new administration win and hopefully change is also on the horizon. I started watching Christmas movies and listening to Christmas music. Along with making my Christmas Card list for my annual Christmas Card-A-Palooza!! This year, I made actual Christmas cards with photos from the previous year, KJB is such an adult!! I also took the first part of my Stats Final for my PhD program, can you believe that I have almost finished my first year... let it be known, that Ross Gellar had every right to mention his PhD whenever he could... because after this Stats class, I'll be introducing myself as KJB, Ph.D. whenever possible once I finish my dissertation and cross that stage...

That being said, here's what I wore this month:

November 2:

Let me introduce you to my beloved Cru.Case! I knew I needed the color immediately and after waiting for them to stock my size, I'm happy to report that it is as great as the website would lead you to believe. At this point, #77Easy was still going strong and I found that I didn't always have pockets which meant I was just holding my phone in one hand and Thomas' leash in the other, and let's not even get into when he would poop! I'm obsessed with this purchase to say the least. I've been envious of the Bandolier case since I saw Tracee Ellis Ross using it on #blackish and Emma Roberts AND Jamie Lee Curtis using it on the set of Scream Queens, but those cases are just a bit outside my price range, so this case from Cru Case was perfection!

November 3:

Election Day! Though, I always vote by mail and they told us with COVID to get our ballots in early. I was increasingly nervous for the outcome. I felt like the Biden Harris ticket could win, but also there was a very good chance that Trump would still weasel his way through. So naturally, I did anything and everything to keep my mind off the pending results.

November 4:

With the global pandemic, people that could voted by mail, so even though Election Day was 11/3, the votes continued to come in and be voted... the projection was the end of the week, so I continued to do anything and everything to keep my mind off perhaps pending doom.

November 5:

So instead of worrying about the election outcome... I focused on pairing items in my closet that I hadn't before! Like this cropped turtleneck from Target with this dress from Forever 21 paired with my new snakeskin boots from Target!

November 6:

I washed and styled my hair via Tik Tok tutorials (have you tried blopping?!) and paired some all time favorite jeans from Lane Bryant with a fave top from Target with another new pair of my snakeskin obsession. These delightful shoes are from Target!

November 7:

By the time Saturday rolled around, a Biden Harris win seemed likely and I needed the comfort of my Obama Biden tee and my Obama socks paired of course with my Taylor Swift Cardigan!

November 9:

Being I used one phone case for basically all of October and half of September, with the exception of cow print week (Also see here, here and here) where I used my beloved Wildflower case! . You can tell that I needed to switch up my phone case a bit this month!

Shoutout to last year's Christmas pjs on Thomas! I wanted to see what our combo (these are Old Navy) would look like... I needed up buying some good ones from Lane Bryant (keep scrolling to see)!!

November 10:

After seeing a Tik Tok where someone made this after watching Schitts Creek, I had to have my little make me one! Check her out here: Haley Hunter Crafts.

November 11:

With the weather change, I was finally able to start wearing both parts of the lounge sets that I bought at the beginning of this COVID-19 madness back in March when all the bloggers I follow were buying their tie dye sets because they were in spring and I forgot to recognize that Davis was basically in summer already! This set from Target is wonderful in separates and even better together!

November 12:

This dress from Target was something I watched at Target for forever and when it was finally on sale in the clearance by happenstance I was able to buy the last one... of course it was no longer fall at that time and then another fall went before I found it in my closet again. But I was so very, very pleased to bring this bad boy out to share with the world, and boy oh boy was it worth the wait!

November 13:

This outfit was a weird juxtaposition of a bunch of pieces I thought would go together and it really went off like gangbusters! The headband (that my mother hates) is from a set that I found on Amazon! Then the plaid shirt, the cropped crewneck and the joggers are all from Target at different times.

November 16:

This outfit was something I had been meaning to wear all season long. When I thought I was going to Apple Hill, this was the first outfit I conjured up- but of course with it being October it was too hot for full pants and a sweater. But November finally allowed me to pair my apple tee from Femfetti with my H&M sweater and these fun paperbag jeans from Target! I thought it was fun to pair my snakeskin slides, ya know as a nod at Eve!

November 17:

These pants are another part of a Target set that I bought back in March and it just wasn't cold enough to pair the sweatshirt with it because this fabric is hella warm! But I was able to make this monochromatic look work and man oh man- the compliments I received!

November 18:

I saw this velour set online at Lane Bryant and I just knew that color and the fit needed to be mine!

I paired this set with my new Target snakeskin boots and a start was born!

November 20:

I bought this sweater dress last year at Target I believe, on clearance and so this is probably only the second time I wore it and this red plaid, reversible poncho from Lane Bryant was the perfect addition to give it a true fall kick!

November 23:

Again, I wanted to break out some clothes that don't get their flowers but definitely deserve them! Like this fit from Forever 21 is definitely special and peep these snakeskin mules from Target!

Introducing my new pjs from Lane Bryant! I love them and I've been wearing them non-stop! They even match Thomas' pjs so you know it was meant to be!

Don't Let Thomas Fool You, He's Thrilled

November 24:

Again, I had to get out these fabulous, comfy pants and again, I paired it with this H&M tank! Eventually it will be cold enough to wear both the top and the bottom of the set together! Please ignore my favorite Target sandals!

November 25:

Had to wear this fun set again!

November 26:

Happy Thanksgiving! I spent it solo with just myself and Thomas! We woke up and watched the very sad Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade... not having an audience was very sad and the Radio City Rockettes while dressed incredibly did not do their kickline... so was it even the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! Afterwards, we watched the National Dog Show, that was truly spectacular- because dogs are always better than humans!

Then I watched the Friends Thanksgiving marathon on TBS and afterwards watched Miracle on 34th Street on Disney+ (they have the original, not the one with Matilda!).

Later in the day, I called my mom, sister, sister's girlfriend and we did Chandler's game where you have 6 minutes to name all 50 States... mom won because she knows the '50 Nifty United States' song from childhood and I was able to name 46! Which I'm proud of because it got me second (Jade had 29 and Mikayla had 25) but I really did think I was gonna pull out all 50! Damn you, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota and Missouri! Damn you!

November 28:

Saturday morning, I woke up at 7:30am, put on my Sicker Than Your Average tee, paired it with my Taylor Swift cardigan and I took two different parts of my four part Stats final! Ugh! (I have two more tomorrow, pray for me!)

November 30:

The final day of November was a good one and the end of #77Easy! I was happy to see November come to an end and December begin, but I am worried about the increasing COVID cases and what it means for the end of 2020 and the start of 2021!

I hope you all had a great month! Stay safe!

Here's to having a wonderful December and finishing up 2020!!

Flashback Fashion Friday: January 2021

January 2021 was honestly a continuation of 2020... it was such a long ass month. At the end of the month, there was a power outage that las...
