KJB's Travel Diary: Tuesday

Tuesday, we woke up in Evanston, Wyoming. It was 27 degrees.

Once we had breakfast and were gassed up, it took 8 minutes to get to Utah from Evanston. Wyoming into Utah was pretty. Utah was where I saw the first Del Taco of the trip!

Outside of Salt Lake City, I decided that I could live there, their overpass had 2002 Olympics, giving me serious MK&A vibes!

Utah into Nevada was pretty. Nevada alone was miserable. Reno/Sparks was actually really cool!

Nevada into California was definitely my favorite though!

We ended up in Tahoe! Tahoe is stunning but it had me wondering why the Laguna Beach kids would drive up here!

But after ending up in Sacramento during rush hour traffic and seeing a turn off for LA. I made it to my new home in Davis at 6pm!

Naturally, I got Thomas set up in my room. Had dinner that the chef had made (I'll certainly get used to that) and then I went to Target. I needed bed sheets, I bought Halloweentown 1-3 and barely escaped before crying in my car.

-----------

Since then I have not cried! Congrats to me! I have completed my training and Friday was my first solo day!

I'm excited to see what the rest of this adventure holds! Including but not limited to going to San Francisco next weekend for the day! Can you imagine?!

KJB's Travel Diary: Monday

Monday, we started out in St. Joseph, thinking our next stop was Kansas imagine my surprise that we were in Iowa for a millisecond, something I didn't realize until I saw a "Buckle Up, Iowa" sign and then suddenly we were in Nebraska.

Honestly, as soon as we were out of Missouri, I realized that our days of tall and thin states were over. However, I was hopeful that at the beginning that we would make it to Utah. We almost did...

In Nebraska, the wind was outrageous and the tumbleweeds were ridiculous! They literally dented my license plate!

After hours and hours and what felt like days, we were finally in Wyoming.... I honestly don't know why people live there. Like, the "flyover states" comment makes sense cause-- I wish I had flown over them!

Our next stop was Evanston, Wyoming. Making it that far was difficult but I had to push to make sure that we made it to Davis the next day.

KJB's Travel Diary: Sunday

Hello all! It's officially been a week since I began my trip to the West Coast!

Thomas and I got a late start, but after the Gavin DeGraw concert and needing to pack up my car, I was happy to set out after my planned time of 9am, and instead 11:40am was our departure time!

Thomas and I stopped at an Ohio rest stop to check a light that had come on the dash... turns out Thomas had hit a button with his cute little face. So we used the bathroom one last time in Ohio (until December) and then suddenly we were in Indiana!

Ohio and Indiana were pretty painless, I've gone to Indianapolis a lot recently. Illinois was when the trip started to drag. It was flat and fields and ignorant gun signs... Like real ignorant, y'all.

Illinois had me wondering why anyone lived outside of Chicago and Evanston.

But then we got to Missouri and that was truly miserable! Like it was dark and whatever State Route Maps had us on was excruciating.

Our first stop was St. Joseph, MO. We stayed at the Hampton Inn. It was great!

KJB About Town: Thomas About Town (October 1)

Thomas came into my life in April and it took the knowledge of us leaving town for me to finally take him downtown to take some photos with Thomas Ewing!

After the mural with Thomas Ewing, we went to Neeley's Farm. A favorite of the Baileys.

Naturally, because Thomas is still a puppy, meeting new people had him lose his cool and he ended
up peeing on this woman and her granddaughter.

So while we didn't get any photos with the pumpkins, these photos are pretty great!

P. S. My trip across the country coming soon!

KJB About Town: Dale-ness (October 8)

The day after Homecoming, I was invited to a wedding!

I've known Jessie since 7th grade and getting to attend her wedding was such a treat.

This wedding took place at Alley Park and in attendance were more junior high/high school friends. Being 25 and seeing someone you've known since you both were 13 pledge to love another for the rest of their life is a trip!

This wedding was a fall dream!

Congratulations Jessie & Brannon!

This wedding was a great time with great friends celebrating a great new adventure for our friends!

The Sanderson Sisters
I'm glad that this wedding could be a part of my good-bye tour of Ohio.

KJB About Town: Homecoming (October 7)

The month of October has been a true whirlwind. I realized I was moving at the end of September and suddenly I had to make the most out of everything!

So I had planned on going up to Akron for my alma mater's Homecoming and so I knew I had a few hours to make the trip really count!

I started with my bff Madison's soccer game! It was precious! This being Madison's first season playing, she was beyond excited to get a trophy.

After the game, it was lunchtime so naturally I decided to indulge in a delicious Akron delicacy ... Swenson's. Something I was surprised to realized that in all my trips to Akron, I hadn't had Swenson's since graduation.

After a quick stop at Swenson's, I headed to campus for some homecoming tailgate fun!

Omega Actives & Alumnae

Met internet friends (and sorority sisters) IRL
After making an appearance at the Alpha Gam tailgate, I headed over for some Greek Unity which just so happened to be right across from the house!

After the tailgate I met two of my best friends and sorority sisters at Szalay's Farm & Market, Akron staple and fall hot spot!

There was corn, pumpkins and a corn maze!

This corn maze covered 3 acres and we only missed two wooden pumpkins.

The day ended with my favorite treat, frozen yogurt from Menchie's! I woke up early and I got home late, but it was a great day spent in Akron!
