Alpha Gamma Delta Founders' Day 2018

Happy Founders’ Month, sisters! Today on May 30, 2018 Alpha Gamma Delta celebrates 114 years of sisterhood. #AlphaGam1904

I'm sure it comes as a surprise to no one that I am a member of Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity... Perhaps it was the post here or here or here or here or here or here or here or here, to name a few...

I joined November 2011, and I joined VST almost immediately after graduating in 2014 and it has honestly been such fun! I can't wait for next month's Convention in San Antonio!

There's even a buzz of Alpha Gamma Delta coming to the UC Davis campus and that means to me- Alpha Gamma Delta alumnae coming out of the woodwork to set up a new chapter and honestly, that's the kind of excitement I'm looking for.

I love Alpha Gamma Delta, with my whole heart and I'm forever grateful for this organization's existence. My hope is that every person in a Greek organization feels exactly the same way.

Happy Founders’ Day!

KJB Lately: Losing My Resolve

Y'all moving to a new city is hard. Moving to a new state is hard. Making all these moves alone is even harder. The fact that these moves took me to the opposite side of the country where I know literally a handful of people in the immediate vicinity- has honestly took Thomas and I on a wild ride!

However...

I got to thinking this weekend (Memorial Day Weekend) how my time here {in Davis} feels a lot like my freshman year of college. I loved during the week cause people were always around and then the weekend came it was a real solitary event cause everyone was going out and I was staying in to watch movies. As previously mentioned, this didn’t really change until sophomore year when I joined Greek life {the best decision of my life}.

I’m cool. I have Thomas and tv but there’s sometimes when I’m like— I should probably interact with {other} humans.

But I really don’t know how to meet people— it’s nearly impossible.

I’m already at a disadvantage— these places are already unfamiliar to me.

Where do the "older young people" go to meet other humans?

I have no idea- and if you’re alone how do you make conversation with someone else? Right, cause I need to jive with someone I know to meet someone I don’t. I'm truly in my element when I'm feeding off of others.

Also- if I’m going somewhere alone- am I not wanting to be bothered? Are others?

And like— do I have to be drunk to make friends in the bathroom?? I don't really like to drink... & I’m not a great actor

All I wish is that there was a closer Alpha Gam alumnae group!

The take-away from this meltdown:
Like how do adults make friends??WHERE. DO. THEY. GO.WHAT. DO. THEY. DO.
Like this whole not having coworkers thing is rough!

Then there's the "what am I doing?" meltdown of being 26 and my life not being what I envisioned at 14. Honestly, that's probably for the best-- but like WTF. I wanted to be married by 23, at the latest 25. Nope, didn't happen. Like, y'all I've never even been on a date. These 26 years have been a old run at a dumpster fire.

I had to request a pep talk from my BFF, that ironically we haven't been in the same room together since the day prior to her graduation... which was in December 2014:

"No no no that's normal. What's important is that where you are is a BUILDING BLOCK to where you want to be. There's a reason people say 30 is the new 20. It's because we do things on a different timeline and that INCLUDES all aspects of live. Don't stress, just enjoy the ride. You got this."
Which naturally worked wonders for the fact that God willing my admittance to law school, I'll be graduating around 30. So while I've always wanted to be Elle Woods, it just took me awhile to come back to the original goal!

And then this photo appeared on Facebook's "On This Day"...

Paired with this quote:
"You will get there when you are meant to be there and not one moment sooner. So relax, breathe and be patient."
So here's to this adventure and not losing my resolve to kick ass!

Flashback Fashion Friday: Laguna Beach

Happy Flashback Fashion Friday, y’all!! Let’s take a trip back a few months to March!

This romper was bought while in Irvine {gotta love Target} and it was truly the perfect piece for our day in Laguna Beach! It was super fun and great for the beach!

The necklace was also found at Target and it was surprisingly the correct accent color for the romper!

This romper was perfect because of the off the shoulder, laissez-faire feel of the garment and the pattern! Honestly, I'm kind of sorta in love with this piece!

KJB Review: Billboard Music Awards

Last night was the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, something they were billing as the biggest night in music. I feel as if that's a reach. Clearly that's the Grammy's.

Taylor Swift surprised everyone by attending the BMAs! And boy, oh boy, did she look fierce!

Jennifer Lopez

Kelly Clarkson was our illustrious host for the evening and opened the night with a plea for Gun Reform. It's definitely a cold open worth watching!

Shawn Mendes

New daddy again, John Legend looking fierce and even made it home for dinner! Check Chrissy Tiegen's tweets! Here. Here and Here. SHE WAS ROASTING HIM!

Ciara looking fresh as hell!

Ok so Ashlee Simpson SLAYED MY WHOLE LIFE!

Hailey Baldwin

The fabulous, Ms. Tyra Banks!

Kesha killing me in this southwestern, Little House on the Prairie vibes!

Mr. Stealing Yo Gurl, Ne-Yo!! Honestly, he looks HOT HOT HOT!

Gold Medalist Chloe Kim strutting the runway or rather Red Carpet!

Yes, Pauly D! YES! If you're watching Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, you know the roommates are looking for a match for Pauly D. I like his style!

Y'all pineapples are always the perfect aesthetic! That pineapple purse is from Femfetti and let me tell you... I've been looking at it!

Darren Criss

Jenna Dewan-Tatum

The fabulous and sassy, Alyson Stoner! Honestly, THIS IS FANTASTIC!!

Bebe Rexha

These black barbs on the sleeves was a LOOK last night!

Justin Hartley

RHOBH Erika Jayne

Patrick Starr

My favorite of the night was Taylor Swift, hands down! Though Alyson Stoner is a real close second!

My favorite performance of the night? Christina & Demi!

KJB Review: The Royal Wedding

Saturday, May 19th, 2018 Prince Harry married Meghan Markle.

The attendees were ranged from in my opinion, random Brits, aristocrats, the royal family and celebrities. Prince Harry's wedding was certainly more star-studded than Prince William's in 2011.

I woke up at 4am on Saturday to watch E's The Real Princess Diaries: From Diana to Meghan, definitely not necessarily worth it, but I was preparing for the 5am wedding.

The guests began arriving at 10am at least televised and had to be in their seats by 11am, when the Royal Family would begin arriving.

The guest list DID NOT DISAPPOINT!

There was Oprah... most people had a ticker tape banner explaining how the guest knows the couple. Oprah was just recognized as Oprah, so I guess that's that.

Idris Elba and fiancé.

Amal & George Clooney, and honestly the Internet is undefeated!

Amal began the mustard yellow trend of the day and truly looked amazing!

Serena Williams and husband

The cast of Suits!

Sarah Rafferty, aka the FABULOUS Donna!

Gina Torres, aka Jessica Pearson

Patrick J. Adams aka Mike

Rick Hoffman aka Louis Litt... and let me tell you- the "Litt up" memes were KILLING ME!

Gabriel Macht

The Beckhams, friends of the Royal Family

James Corden and Wife

Sofia Wellesley's dress and fascinator may just be my favorite ensemble!

Joss Stone, friends with Prince Harry... honestly shocking!

Pippa Middleton Matthews and husband

Victoria Aitken was giving me Formation Tour Beyoncé vibes!

2011
To say I was disappointed by Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice's fascinators is beyond words!

Meghan's momma, Doria with her locs and nose ring was nothing short of fantastic!

When we first began watching the televised event, we had two hours until we got to see Meghan Markle. There was two hours, there was tons of speculations on what she would wear.

The Princes arrived on the scene!

Prince Harry and Prince William

Kate Middleton was an outfit repeater but looked fantastic even if it was cream!

Kate arrived to the wedding with the flower girls and page boys, right before we saw Meghan Markle.

Finally the reveal...

While the veil was INCREDIBLE! As was the borrowed tiara... the dress left A LOT to be desired.

Did she look great? Of course! She's beautiful and she looked happier beyond words.

But we've seen this dress... on Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner and Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries 2 {except even Mia's had lace that gave it some depth}... this dress is boring and basic af.

Holly Nichols of HNicholsIllustration is incredible!

The Happy Couple!

Loved the choirs ensembles, they sang Stand By Me!

Now this Reception dress was MORE LIKE IT!!!!

What were your thoughts on the fascinators? The dresses? The invitees? Meghan's dress?! Comment below.

Moral of the story, the bad boy of our dreams has a official grown up and is off the market!

Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex

Do yourself a favor and look up the wedding portraits of the Royal Family, the happy couple and the flower and page boys and be prepared to cry forever... I suppose we all have a chance again in 30 years when Prince George gets married.

Flashback Fashion Friday: January 2021

January 2021 was honestly a continuation of 2020... it was such a long ass month. At the end of the month, there was a power outage that las...
