Those are just a few of the emotions I've felt this week.
The last few weeks, my emotions has been all over the place- with the loss of my friend's loved ones, buying a car, this continued moving, and dealing with the emotions that came with the President-elect, my usual state of Decfon 1 has easily been Defcon 5.
And there's nothing inherently wrong with that, but it's exhausting.
So what do we- I - do?
Well it was helpful to watch people - politicians and reporters also be flummoxed about the election results. To see people have real emotions. I've also found solace in my friends that have also been deeply upset and enraged by this. It's important to reminder we're not alone.
Another great thing was Chelsea Handler's Chelsea episode with Senator Barbara Boxer.
Honestly, if you have Netflix -- watch the episode, Senator Boxer was a bright spot in a sad moment.
She said it over and over, cause she knows how important is it to keep the faith:
HRC won the popular vote. She won. Trump won because of the broken system, the electoral college. But as we mourn a loss that feels all consuming- take stock in the fact that the majority of the country would've shattered that glass ceiling. That the majority of the country DOES have a problem with a racist, misogynistic, bigot being the leader of the free world.
Hillary Rodham Clinton won the popular vote.
Let that sink in- read it again if you have to.
Hillary Rodham Clinton won the popular vote.
Overwhelming the majority of the country does in fact believe that America should be inclusive to all, that being racially divisive is wrong, that sexually assualting women is wrong, that being anything but open to all people from all walks of life is not the American way.
So what do we do when the system fails the majority?
We fight. We don't give up.
We stay active members of our communities. Cause this is our America. This is our country.
To quote Senator Boxer, "the Republicans have the Presidency, the House and the Senate. But we still have our voice."
So we have to being willing to work with them, but don't ever forget to use your voice to tell them when they're wrong.
Remember- there are only two years until the interim election- America isn't over.
Just think of it as the Battle for Middle Earth.
God Bless America

KJB
