Blessed With The Best

Because I would just die to get to be an attendee, a moderator, or honoree of Forbes Women's Summit, I thought I would host my own. RIGHT HERE. So I reached out to some fabulous #GirlBosses and here we are! I thought maybe I would call it, #GirlBoss Monday or Fierce Female Friday and came up with it, you guessed it-- Woman Crush Wednesday.

I am a firm believer that women supporting other women is important. We're not competing with each other.

So I'll be starting out with flawless female friendships- love me some alliteration.

The Color of Friendship

Remember that age old riddle/song/what have you:

Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other is gold.

Then there's that song: No New Friends by DJ Khaled

No new friends, no new friends, no new friends, no, no new ... Fuck a fake friend, where your real friends at?
So where does that leave us... Friendship is crucial to the human experience. But friendship is also incredibly different for each person and each relationship is different. I mean we all saw how awkward it can be when two worlds collided in Cadet Kelly. That was quintessential, one is silver and the others gold. Thank goodness that friendship had a happy ending.

Friendship is weird. It's totally organic. It has a mind of its own. Friendships can last forever and ever or they can end after they've run their course and you've learned what you were supposed to. I've had my fair share of friendships end but I've been lucky in the way that they tend to just melt into the background. No over the top fights, nothing earth-shattering just slowly the hanging out ceases and talking becomes sporadic before it too ceases. There's no ill will in my heart, I wish them the best, we just aren't the type of friends we used to be, and that's alright. It took me time to learn that, but it is important to learn. You can't be friends with everyone, friendships run their course and you keep the memories but keep moving forward, you can't look back.

I think I learned this the most with the high school friends I still have. We may not see each other much or even have to talk everyday, but when we do it's like nothing has changed and I swear it's 2010 again  and we're loving being second semester seniors, we just happen to now have different significant others or be in our careers or working towards them rather than our after school jobs. Our lives are no longer inseparably intertwined and that's alright. It's almost better, because we've been able to grow separately but still together.

Then there's my college friends, the ones I quite literally spent 4+ years, 24/7 with and now that we're separate, a few I know I don't have to talk to everyday to stay just as close and with my bi-monthly trips to Akron, our friendships are just as strong and then there are my other friends that I talk to all day, everyday, just like we did when we were still in college and could possibly run into each other even though now-- there's two and half hours separating us from

Airport Style

The moment Jen Bunney, asked me to go to Florida, I started planning my airport style. It seems to be my favorite part of the airport, people watching, and if people are gonna watch-- give them something to look at... Of course, this planning was when it was in the high 50s...

So I planned for my chambray shirt dress, thank you Ava + Viv, it's seriously SO comfortable and it has pockets! It's my favorite casual, go to dress plus my Sperrys for sensible footwear and my Hot Topic rainbow scarf... Of course, when the day came- the temperature dropped and it even snowed the day before our departure and being we were leaving from Akron, I had to plan ahead a few days cause I would be spending a day in Akron before the flight and two days in Akron after coming back (spoiler alert, my nearly 40lb bag wasn't full of winter clothes).

So I had to go right back to Pinterest and searched "Airport/Travel" style...

There was Emily Ann Gemma, whom I'm obsessed with.

Kristin Cav, whom you guessed it, I'm obsessed with..

Pinterest for the win!

Who doesn't want to immolate a supermodel's off duty look?!

This made me think of my Cleveland #OOTD

This had me dreaming of a window seat so I could recreate this photo.

This is what I ended up with...

Not bad, but not great. It was appropriate for Akron's cold, rainy morning and then once we got our bags in Tampa, I promptly switched into flip flops. I was however comfortable on all the plans. I should've however packed something to wear at night in Venice, we were right on the water-- and then definitely should've packed something for the two days when I was back in Akron, I had to buy a jacket from Target, because it was about 30 degrees and snowing.

With all of this being said, I hope you're looking forward to my Florida photos, I look forward to reliving this trip! It was glorious and could NOT have come at a better time. How often are you lucky enough to get to start a new dream job, go on a week's vacation with your best friend and then go right back to work like you seem to have a gap in your memory.

God Bless,

This weekend my sisters are celebrating International Reunion Day! Being I live 3 hours away from Omega and was quite literally in Akron last weekend for Songfest, where my sisters took First Place very proud alumna right here and we won the award for Most Alumnae, along with a few other awards. Then I'll be back this upcoming weekend to chaperone Date Party, so I had to sit this weekend out. So I went through my photographs to find previous IRDs.

2012:
IRD happened to be the week after Songfest, so we performed for the alumnae that didn't make it. Fun Fact: this is the only year I ever participated in Songfest... & that's why I never did it again.

2013:
This year Songfest and IRD were the same day, and it was hectic to say the least! So I didn't manage to take any pictures.

2014:
My final and favorite IRD as an active... We wore our favorite letters and I won for "Most Creative" for the collegians.
