International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year.[2] It commemorates the movement for women's rights.
So instead of introducing you to our designated WCW- I'm gonna tell you how you can advocate for women. Thank you Wikipedia.
Ideally, you and I would be able to not go to work so we could fully participate in A Day Without A Woman-- but there is this pesky thing called: accountability, responsibility and really- bills to pay.
So if you're like me and can't miss work today- here are some things you can do, so says every article I've read on the matter:
1) Wear red in solidarity.
- I've even seen people go so far as to temporarily change their social media profile photo- to each their own... in my Facebook profile pic, I'm wearing red-- that's the same thing right?
2) Participate in #GrabYourWallet
3) Take part in #DivestDAPL
4) Refuse gender roles and stereotypes
5) Donate to the International Women's Strike USA
6) Talk to your boss--
- Healthcare and paid family leave benefits everyone
And if you are able to miss work today- participate in a protest or march for A Day Without a Woman. If you can't find one- start one.
"Here's to strong women. May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them."
Be The Change.
